The Recon Scout Throwbot reconnaissance robot is your man on the inside. It’s rugged, stealthy, mobile and unfailingly dependable, and it’s designed to take whatever abuse the job demands.
Throw it through a window, over a wall, or down the stairs and it lands ready-to-go. You can even drop it from an unmanned aerial reconnaissance vehicle. Once deployed, you can control its movement at a distance using a hand-held operator control unit. The Recon Scout helps you explore hostile or dangerous environments by providing real-time mission-critical reconnaissance video that enables your teams to act quickly, safely and decisively.

Rugged
All the components of the Recon Scout – from its sophisticated electronics and protective titanium shell to its cast urethane wheels and flexible antennas – are designed to withstand the rigors of the job. The Recon Scout can survive a vertical throw of 120 feet and a vertical drop of 30 feet. It can be thrown through a window or down several flights of stairs and still be ready to move and transmit video.
Easy to Use
To use the Recon Scout you simply pull the activation pin. It is now ready to receive signals to move from the operator control unit (OCU). To activate the OCU, you attach the color-coded antennas to the top of the unit, switch on the unit and select a receiving frequency. Total time to activate both units: less than 20 seconds.
Small
The Recon Scout weighs just one pound and is small enough to be carried in a pocket or attached to a vest. The entire unit is just seven inches in length and the 1.5-inch diameter of the shell makes is easy to carry by hand or throw.
Stealthy
The Recon Scout has a matte black finish that makes it hard to detect indoors and out. It also moves extremely quietly with a maximum decibel level of just 20 decibels. By comparison, a whisper measures 30 decibels.
Maneuverable
The Recon Scout can easily negotiate hostile or dangerous environments. It can quietly move down hallways and peer inside rooms, and it is small enough to easily move under tables, chairs and other furniture. The Recon Scout can give a 360-degree scan of a room in less than five seconds, and can reverse its line of site in one second.
Perceptive
The Recon Scout transmits a sharp, clear view of any situation. Its black and white image sensor has a 60-degree field of view on both the vertical and horizontal axis, and with a light sensitivity of 0.0003 lux it performs extremely well in very low light.
Powerful
The Recon Scout transmits streaming video more than 250 feet outdoors, and 100 feet indoors (through walls, doors, windows, etc.). This allows the operator to control the Scout from a safe distance in a secure location.
Quick
You control the speed of the Recon Scout with the simple joystick on the OCU. You can keep it motionless, allow it to creep along while scanning the scene, or let it traverse a space at one foot per second. It can provide moving reconnaissance of a 30-foot hall way and 20-foot room in less than 60 seconds.
The Recon Scout® Throwbot™miniature mobile robot provides real-time video reconnaissance of hostile or dangerous environments. It saves lives by allowing your personnel to gather mission-critical information prior to entering these environments. Constructed of aircraft aluminum and titanium, the incredibly rugged Recon Scout can be thrown through a window, tossed over a wall or dropped from a low-flying unmanned aerial vehicle.
Once deployed, its movement is controlled at a distance using a hand-held Operator Control Unit and it immediately begins transmitting live video of the situation. The Recon Scout is your man on the inside. Before you send in your team, send in a Recon Scout.
